Sending a handmade sympathy card is a heartfelt gesture to let someone know you care . I’d like to share with you a sympathy card I created using the Artistic Dies and Artistically Inked stamp set by Stampin’ Up! Dimensions to cut your cardstock are listed below and a complete list of all supplies is at the end of this post and is linked to my online Stampin’ Up! store.
Dimensions
Card base is Smoky Slate (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at the 4 1/4″).
Rich Razzleberry cardstock (cut at 5 1/4″ x 4)
Basic White (cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″) for front
Basic White (cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″) for inside
Scrap Basic Black and Scrap Basic White
Place the Rich Razzleberry layer in the Tasteful Textile embossing folder and run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine (remember that this is a 3D folder and set up your machine with plate 1, your embossing folder with paper in it, then plate 4).
Next, set up your machine with plate 1, plate 3, basic white paper, and your flower die from the Artistic Dies and place it towards the top of your paper to cut out the shape. Remove the shape and set aside.
Approximately 2″ from the bottom of the “negative image”, trim away the top portion.
Now glue the trimmed negative piece of Basic White onto the Rich Razzleberry layer. Like a puzzle, fit the cut out piece into the negative piece and glue into place (I used Tombow “green glue”). Now you’re ready for assembly.
Wrap Silver Elegant Trim around Rich Razzleberry layer twice and knot together. The scalloped layer will cover the knot.
Cut an oval from the Double Oval Punch using scrap white then cut a Basic Black scalloped oval using the same punch.
I used the words “With Heartfelt Sympathy” from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set. The words were stamped with Black Memento Ink. Glue the two scalloped pieces together then place a Stampin’ Dimensional on the back of the scallop and adhere over the knot on the Silver Elegant Trim. Finish off with 3 Rhinestone Basic Gems placed as pictured below.
I like to finish off the inside of my cards with an image that is from the same stamp set or coordinates with it. I used the rosebud from the Artistically Inked stamp set stamped in Rich Razzleberry and finished off with leaves from the same set stamp with Mossy Meadow.
Here’s the finished product!
I hope you enjoyed this simple card (with a twist using the negative from the cut out shape). Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think! Products are also listed below and are linked to my online Stampin’ Up! store.
Inky Hugs!
