Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. I enjoy creating a card then whipping something up in the kitchen to let my family and friends know that I care. As a room mom for many MANY years for both of my kids’ classrooms, I always chose the Valentine’s Day party to host in the classroom. We would sit down and make handmade Valentine’s for their friends and include a little goody attached to each one. Today, both of my kids have graduated from school and are onto bigger and better things. However, one tradition still remains, we like to get together and make a heart shaped pizza and a heart shaped cake to share on Valentine’s Day. YUM!
Today I’ve got a fun shaker style card to share with you. I’ve used the Sweet Conversations bundle by Stampin’ Up! This is actually a very simple card to make with a lot of pizzazz!
Dimensions
Cardbase: Real Red (8 1/2″x5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half)
Layer 1: Blushing Bride (3 3/4″x3 3/4″)
Layer 2: Sweet Talk Design Series Paper (DSP) (3 1/2″x3 1/2″)
Layer 3: Clear cellophane bag (4 1/4″x4 1/4″)
Inside: Basic White (4″x5 1/4″)
Accessories: 12″ faux linen red ribbon
Scrap Basic White (for hearts and sentiment), scrap Blushing Bride, Real Red, and Gold Foil Paper
(all supplies and links are listed at the bottom of this post)
First, fold your Real Red card base in half. Next, take a cellophane bag and trim down to 4 1/4″x4 1/4″ (you can save the other half of the bag for a future project).
Turn your Designer Series Paper (DSP) over and adhere Stampin’ Seal on 3 edges of your paper. Next, press your cellophane bag onto the adhesive creating a pocket.
Cut out hearts from the Sweet Heart Dies with scrap Blushing Bride, Real Red, and Gold Foil to create confetti. Place the confetti in your shaker pocket and seal from the back the top portion. Leave the cellophane slightly loose so the confetti can move in the pocket.
Next, turn your pocket over and place Stampin’ Seal around all 4 sides and adhere onto the Blushing Bride Layer.
Finish off the pocket with a faux bow (knot) and adhere your sentiment onto the pocket. I used “Happy Valentine’s Day” stamped onto Basic White and cut out with the long scallop die from the Floral Galleries Dies and popped it up with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
Lastly, decorate and adhere the Basic White layer on the inside of your card.
Next, on a scrap piece of white, stamp 2 hearts in Real Red and 1 heart in Blushing Bride. Then, add “UR CUTE” in Black Memento Ink onto the Blushing Bride heart. Cut out the hearts with the framelits using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. Pop up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere as shown.
Tada! The completed card! Isn’t it cute?
